For Doctor’s preparing to sit for the QME Competency Examination, this course is required. This course will prepare you to pass the exam, and gain your Qualified Medical Evaluator credential. The eligibility requirements to take the QME Competency Examination are described in CCR 11 and the disability report writing course requirements are described in CCR 11.5. According to CCR 11 (b)(1) “prior to appointment as a QME, complete a course of at least sixteen (16) hours in disability evaluation report writing pursuant to section 11.5 of this Article. This course satisfies ALL of those requirements including the mandatory subjects:

    1. The Qualified Medical Evaluator’s Role in the Disability Evaluation Process (1 hour)
    2. Elements of the Medical-Legal Report (1 hour)
    3. The Language of Reports (4 hours)
    4. The Administrative Director’s Disability Evaluation Protocols (1 hour)
    5. The Third-Party Perspective (1 hour)
    6. Anatomy of a Good Report (3 hours)
    7. Mechanics of Report Writing (1 hour)
    8. Case Law Update – 2 Hours
    9. Anti-Bias Training – 2 Hours
    10. Submission of a Mock QME Report (1 Hour)
    11. Total – 16 Hours
    This 16 Hour Course is delivered in 3 component parts:
     
     Part 1 – Live 6 Hour Session (Mandatory Attendance at Live ZOOMinar) – Topics include 1) Anti-Bias Training, 2) Case Law Update, 3) Elements of the Medical Legal Report, and 4) Mechanics of QME Report Writing.
    Part 2 – Self-Study 10 Hours Online Module – includes discussion of topics from the list above, for the required number of hours.  Proceed through the program at your own pace.  Watch the videos.  Read the handout materials.  This will prepare you for the QME Competency Exam.
    Part 3 – Self- Study Mock Report Writing Exercise.  Once you have completed Parts 1 and 2, email mail us ([email protected]) of your progress.  We will then prepare a Mock Report Writing Exercise for you for to practice writing a sample report and an actual case within your area of specialty.  Once your Mock Report is completed satisfactorily, we will issue your Certificate of Completion. 

     

     

    Completion of this Course is required before receiving your QME credential.
